Fall Faculty Convocation, 8/27

Please join us in celebrating faculty achievements and welcoming new faculty to the Iona community on Wednesday, August 27, in Romita Hall from 12:30-2 p.m. A light reception in Romita Lobby will follow.

OMM Ice Cream Social, 8/27

Join the Office of Mission & Ministry (OMM) for a free ice cream social on Wednesday, August 27 at 12:30 p.m. on the Spellman Portico steps. Come meet the 2025-2026 Campus Ministers, learn about OMM's many programs and enjoy an ice cream!

Fall Involvement Fair, 8/28

The Center for Student Engagement (CSE) will be hosting the Annual Fall Involvement Fair on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Iona has clubs and engagement opportunities for all students: academic, multicultural, service, leadership, and more!

Taizé Prayer Night, 9/2

Join the Office of Mission & Ministry for our monthly Taizé Prayer Nights in the Blessed Edmund Rice Chapel.

On Tuesday, September 2, at 7 p.m. we welcome you to join us for a time of reflection, prayer, and song in the Taizé style.

Please note that due to ongoing construction, you must enter the Chapel by using the rear service road across from the Montgomery House.

Mass Schedule and Blessings for Students

Mass Schedule
On Tuesday, September 2, we will start the regular schedule of weekday Masses. All are welcome to attend Mass.

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m., Blessed Edmund Rice Chapel
  • Tuesdays, 5 p.m., 6th floor lounge of the North Ave. Residence Hall

Gael Service Grant Mandatory Orientation, 9/3

First-year students who are part of the Gael Service Grant program are required to attend an orientation session at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3. The orientation will take place in Murphy Auditorium.

Hynes Institute Entrepreneurship Fair, 9/3

The Hynes Institute and the CEO Club warmly welcome all students to attend our upcoming Entrepreneurship Fair on September 3 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hynes Institute located on the 2nd floor of Spellman Hall. Join us to connect with like-minded peers, explore how an entrepreneurial mindset can be applied across various industries and discover the many resources and programs available through the Hynes Institute. Do not miss out!

A Message from Campus Safety

Welcome back to all students, faculty and staff. As we begin a new academic year, please read through these important updates. 

Parking Regulations & Permits
Parking permit enforcement will be suspended for the first two weeks of the Fall semester. This timeframe will give everyone an opportunity to register their vehicle and pick up their parking permit. All other parking restrictions remain in effect. Parking permit enforcement begins on September 9.

The Parking & Traffic Regulations as well as the parking permit application can be found here. For those authorized to obtain a parking permit, please fill out the Vehicle Registration Form.

After you complete the vehicle registration form, you will be issued a confirmation document. When you come to pick up your permit, please bring a printout or screenshot of the confirmation document. Parking permits can be picked up at any time.

As a reminder, on weekdays, students may park in the Columba Lot beginning at 4 p.m. Prior to 4 p.m., the Columba Lot spaces are reserved for faculty and staff.

Gael Express Shuttle
Information and schedules for the Gael Express Shuttle can be found here. Please note that there is now expanded Bronxville shuttle service.

Campus Text Notification
We will be conducting a test of the Campus Text Notification System on September 2 at noon. If you do not receive this text, please sign up or renew your account here.

Campus Safety is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be reached at (914) 633-2560 on the New Rochelle campus and at (914) 654-6100 on the Bronxville campus.

Spaces Available in the Gael Chat Course

Gael Chat is a 1-credit experiential learning course offered by the Counseling Center that aims to increase students' capacities to use interpersonal and social tools during the college experience and beyond. The course is an inclusive space for Iona’s neurodivergent students!

The class aims to help students:

  • expand their existing social networks;
  • develop and maintain new relationships (friendships, romantic relationships, professional relationships, etc.);
  • understand the social needs of oneself and others;
  • resolve conflict effectively;
  • navigate small talk and uncomfortable social moments;
  • integrate social feedback; and
  • cope with moments of rejection.

The course takes place in-person on Tuesdays from 1-1:52 p.m.

Registration for Fall 2025 Fraternity & Sorority Life Recruitment is Open!

The Council for Greek Governance (CGG) is pleased to announce that Fraternity & Sorority Recruitment will begin Thursday, September 18 at 9:15 p.m. and continue through Friday and Saturday, with Bid Day happening on Sunday, September 21 at 5 p.m. Register today to get involved! Eligible students can register through Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

In order to be eligible to participate in CGG Recruitment Weekend, you must hold a minimum 2.5 GPA, be in good conduct standing with the University, and have completed 12 credits at Iona. If you are a transfer student, please reach out to astellato@iona.edu for more information.

There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, September 17, at 12:30 p.m. in the McGrath Room for those eligible to participate. In addition to this meeting, please note these pre-recruitment events:

Meet the Greeks: Thursday, August 28 from 9:30-11 p.m. in Mulcahy Gym (doors close at 10 p.m.)!

2025-2026 Mass of the Holy Spirit, 9/8

The Mass of the Holy Spirit will take place in Spellman Burke Lounge on Monday, September 8, at 12:30 p.m. The Mass of the Holy Spirit has been a staple in bringing together and celebrating the rich diversity and countless gifts of the Iona community, as we ask for God’s blessings on the new academic year. All members of the Iona community are invited to join in this celebration as we kick off the 2025-2026 year. 

A lunch reception will take place in the LaPenta Student Union McGrath Room following the Mass.

Gaels Go Further Mentoring Program Five-Year Celebration, 9/17

Come find out why Iona alumni mentors can make a huge difference in your career as we celebrate the five-year anniversary of the Gaels Go Further Mentoring Program on Wednesday, September 17, from 6–9 p.m.! This special event highlights the incredible impact of student-alumni mentoring at Iona and offers a unique chance to meet past mentors and mentees.
