New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is currently underway. We wanted to be sure that all members of our community have information to help greet and direct new families should they find their way to your offices or you meet them around campus. Please review the email that went out on Friday, June 5, for important information related to Orientation including dates, schedules, parking and more.
Orientation is a University-wide program and we thank you in advance for your participation in providing a warm Iona welcome!
Serving Students with Disabilities: A Virtual Workshop with Jane Thierfeld Brown, Ed.D., for Administrators and Staff, 6/26
Bringing 43 years of experience working in Disability Services, Dr. Jane Thierfeld Brown will share insights on working with neurodivergent students who rely on our student support offices. All staff and administrators are encouraged to attend, especially those in Student Success and working in student-facing areas and offices. (A separate workshop will be held for faculty at a later date.)
Some questions for the workshop may include: What more could we do to help remove barriers for students living on campus? How might we create a sensory environment appropriate for neurodivergent students? How can we support student staff? How can Academic Support prepare to accommodate neurodivergent students? How do we work with the student/parent dynamic?
Please see below for more on Dr. Jane Thierfeld Brown:
