Camp Volunteers Wanted This Summer, 4/7

Iona in Mission is seeking male volunteers for the remaining 2 spots on a service trip to Mississippi this summer, June 6-13, 2026. This immersion serves foster youth by offering a free, safe, and fun camp experience for ages 6 to 11. Help campers build friendships, facilitate arts and crafts, sports, water activities, and more!

Estimated cost is $600; individual and team fundraising lowers the cost.

Apply by April 7.

Classroom to Career with guest speaker, Seamus McElearney '89, 4/8

Seamus McElearney '89, former FBI agent, and author of "Flipping Capo: How the FBI Dismantled the Real Sopranos," will discuss how his career developed after graduating from Iona.

NYC Site Visit: Alvarez & Marsal, 4/8

The site visit to Alvarez & Marsal provides participants with the opportunity to learn firsthand about the firm’s work in consulting, turnaround management, restructuring and performance improvement. During the visit, students will engage with professionals who will share insights into their career paths, current projects, and the skills needed to succeed in consulting. The program will include an overview of the firm and a discussion about internship opportunities, the recruiting timeline for applications and time for questions and networking. This experience allows students to gain a deeper understanding of consulting careers while building connections with professionals. This visit is primarily intended for sophomores and juniors, who will be given priority consideration.

Elevator Pitch Workshop, 4/9

An "elevator pitch" is a short description of an idea, product or company that explains the concept in a way such that any listener can understand it in a short period of time. Attend this prep session to develop & get feedback on your pitch with John Tsampalis, our entrepreneur-in-residence.

Digital Innovation in Healthcare: Advancing Health in Our Communities, 4/9

The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Nursing & Health Sciences invites you to the final event in this year’s Symposium on Health & Well-Being speaker series: Digital Innovation in Healthcare: Advancing Health in Our Communities happening on Thursday, April 9, at 5 p.m. Sommer Center. From artificial intelligence to emerging digital technologies, healthcare is undergoing rapid transformation. Join experts from NewYork-Presbyterian, Elaine Hui-Martinez, DNP, RN, NI-BC, CPHIMS, program director of Nursing Informatics, and Sushravya Raghunath, Ph.D., director of Data Science, for an engaging presentation on what these changes mean for patients and communities, and how thoughtful innovation can expand access and improve health outcomes. All are welcome.

Sacred Resistance: Eco-Activism and the Rise of New Spiritual Communities, 4/14

Join us in Arrigoni Center on Tuesday, April 14, at either noon or 2 p.m. for a day of reflection with Dr. Mark Clatterbuck, scholar and activist based at Montclair State University. Mark will reflect on his work with Catholic nuns fighting for eco-justice in Pennsylvania. He will also share about the book project that he recently edited, "Sacred Resistance," which gathers reflections on a range of religious communities and their efforts to embody sustainability and social justice.

Quaff & Quill: Book Talk with Jordan B. Smith, 4/15

Join the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies for a talk with Professor Jordan B. Smith (Widener University) about his new book, The Invention of Rum: Creating the Quintessential Atlantic Commodity (2025) to learn the complex history of rum, from its production to its consumption, and from its origins in the Caribbean to its impact on the Atlantic world. It was strong. It was cheap. It was ubiquitous. Fermented and distilled from the refuse of sugar production, rum emerged in the seventeenth-century Caribbean as a new commodity. Focusing on the lived experiences of British colonists, Indigenous people, and enslaved Africans, The Invention of Rum shows how people engaged in making and consuming this commodity created a new means of profit that transformed the Atlantic world. Light refreshments will be served. Presented in partnership with the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association.

Presidential Speaker Series: Expertise, Artificial Intelligence, and the Work of the Future, 4/16

Will recent advances in AI complement human expertise, thereby increasing its value, or render it increasingly unnecessary, thus reducing experts’ earnings potential (even if jobs are not in net eliminated)? David Autor, Ph.D., will frame this question through the lens of three technological revolutions of the last two centuries: the Industrial Revolution, the Computer Revolution, and the AI Revolution. In each, the types of expertise rewarded changed substantially, with vastly uneven consequences for workers in different occupations and possessing different education levels. These forces will play out differently in the AI era than in preceding decades. While the future is not a forecasting exercise—it is a collective creation, not a preordained fate—Autor will lay out the opportunities that AI opens for the labor market, as well as some of the risks it poses.

Donate a Bear for the Teddy Bear Clinic, 4/17

The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Nursing & Health Sciences is proudly partnering with the Greenburgh Central School District to host a Teddy Bear Clinic for 120 first-grade students—and we need your help to make it extra special. We want to ensure each child has a stuffed animal to use during this fun, hands-on experience that helps them feel safe and learn about healthcare in a positive way. To make this possible, we are collecting new or gently used stuffed animals so every student has a cuddly companion of their own. Donations can be dropped off in collection boxes located in the Kelly Center lobby and Bronxville Café now through April 17.
