Iona Intranet: Inside Iona

We are pleased to announce the development of a new intranet website, Inside Iona. This platform is being created to serve as a secure, centralized resource exclusively for members of the Iona University community.

Inside Iona will:
• provide streamlined access to internal resources, documents, and updates;
• offer a dedicated space for information relevant to faculty, staff, and students;
• enhance security by ensuring content is available only to our community; and
• reduce reliance on the public website for internal-only communications.

Our goal is to make Inside Iona a reliable, user-friendly portal that supports the daily needs of our community while strengthening how we share information internally.

We look forward to introducing this new platform to faculty and staff on Monday, November 17, and a “Phase II” rollout to students in the near future. Additional details will be provided as the launch date approaches.

New Cybersecurity Awareness Training Platform: KnowBe4

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new security awareness training platform, KnowBe4, designed to strengthen our campuswide cybersecurity awareness and help protect University data and systems.

Cyber threats such as phishing, social engineering, and ransomware continue to target higher education institutions. To help us stay vigilant, all faculty and staff will participate in this new online training program.

What to Expect
• An email invitation from Iona University to begin your training.
• The training is self-paced, web-based, and takes approximately 25 minutes to complete two separate modules.

Why It Matters
Information security is a shared responsibility. By completing the training and remaining alert to suspicious emails or activity, you play a vital role in safeguarding our University’s digital environment.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the helpdesk@iona.edu

Thank you for your cooperation and continued commitment to keeping our campus secure.

Staged Reading of "Motherland" by Jeanne Sheehan Zaino, Ph.D., 10/23

The Iona University Theatre Ensemble will present a staged reading of “Motherland” by Jeanne Sheehan Zaino, Ph.D. on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m., in Doorley Auditorium, Doorley Hall. Admission is free and all are invited to attend.

About the Play
“Motherland” is a historical drama set during British colonial rule, portraying the final days of Indian revolutionary Madan Lal Dhingra. Centered on his 1909 trial for the assassination of Sir Curzon Wyllie, the play blends courtroom drama with flashbacks that trace Dhingra’s path to radicalization and ultimate martyrdom. In revisiting this pivotal moment in the struggle for Indian independence, “Motherland” also confronts urgent contemporary questions about political violence, justice, and resistance.

About the Playwright
J. Sheehan Zaino, Ph.D., is a professor and writer whose work explores the intersections of history, politics and violence. Her first full-length play, “Code Red,” a dark comedy about the absurdities of school safety policy, was workshopped at a professional theater in Connecticut. In addition to her playwriting, Zaino is the author, most recently, of “Sikander Hyat-Khan: Premier of United Punjab,” (Primus 2024) and “American Democracy in Crisis,” (Palgrave 2025).

It’s Sock-tober! Drop Off Donations in the Kelly Center & Bronxville Café

This October, the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences is excited to partner with The Sharing Shelf of Port Chester for Sock-tober - our campus sock drive to support children and teens in need.

We’re collecting brand-new socks (still in their packaging) in all sizes, from infants to adults.

Socks may be small, but they make a big difference. Having this everyday essential helps kids and teens feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn and grow.

Drop your donations in the collection boxes located in the Kelly Center lobby and the Bronxville Café through October 31.

Let’s come together to fill these boxes and show our community the power of small acts of kindness!

2025 Week of the Peacemaker, 11/16-11/21

For over 40 years Iona University has chosen the time surrounding Veterans Day to dedicate academic and co-curricular attention to peacemaking. Each year the University chooses a theme for its Week of the Peacemaker, and through a variety of activities, conveys this theme in diverse and dynamic ways. The 2025 Week of the Peacemaker, "Living Iona’s Mission: Fighting the Good Fight for a World in Crisis," will be held from November 16-21.

This year's week will host events aimed at raising awareness of and responding to the many concerns across our world that call for action as inspired by the Christian Brothers’ values of presence, compassion, and liberation, and our University’s motto, Certa Bonum Certamen.

The Week of the Peacemaker Committee seeks faculty members whose research/work is related to this year's topic to consider leading a teach-in during this year's week. Interested faculty members are invited to contact Sean D'Alfonso, Ed.D., at sdalfonso@iona.edu
